I’m gonna go out on a limb and predict that Bill Daley, brother of outgoing Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, will become the next White House chief of staff. Why?

1) It’s a bit too coincidental that Richard Daley suddenly cleared the way for Rahm Emanuel to run for Chicago mayor, and in turn Emanuel’s departure cleared the way for Bill Daley to become chief of staff.

2) Daley is reported to be at the White House today. We’ve been told that the chief of staff decision would come as early as Friday, and why else would Daley suddenly be at the White House on Wednesday?

So I’m predicting that Daley is being offered the job by Barack Obama, Daley will accept, and the announcement will be made within the next few days.
