Jared Loughner was stopped by police for running a red light just hours before shooting and killing several individuals, including Congresswoman Gabrille Giffords.
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — The suspect in a deadly Arizona shooting ran a red light and was stopped by a wildlife officer less than three hours before the attack that wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
The Arizona Game and Fish Department says an officer stopped Jared Loughner at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
The officer took Loughner’s driver’s license and vehicle registration information. Dispatchers checked the information and found no outstanding warrants on Loughner or his vehicle. He was given a verbal warning and released.
It has previously been reported that the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, headed by crackpot Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, who has been baselessly blaming conservatives for the shooting, had been notified of death threats by Loughner — but did nothing of substance.
Loughner was also known to be, what’s the word, psychopathic by those who knew him. His classmates and professors have described him as crazed, laughing hysterically at completely serious subjects.
It seems there were warning signs about Loughner. Signs that were, unfortunately, ignored.
