The House of Representatives has voted by a margin of 245-189 to repeal government-run health care (ObamaCare). Three Democrats joined with all Republicans in voting in favor of the measure. One Democrat initially voted in favor and then switched. Which one? I’ll let you know when we find out.
Now what? That’s pretty much it until the American people hand the Senate and White House over to Republican hands. Even if you could attain filibuster and Reid allowed the measure to come up for a vote, Obama’s going to defend his disastrous legislation with the veto pen. So that’s pretty much it for now.
Still, this was a good first step in repealing legislation Americans don’t want and the country can’t afford. House Republicans kept their promise, and come 2013 Senate Republicans and the next Republican president will do the same. God willing.
More: All of that having been said, we should demand an up-or-down vote in the Senate. Let’s get Democratic Senators — particularly Joe Manchin, Jim Webb, Bill Nelson, and Ben Nelson — on record for or against repeal.
Update: The three House Democrats who voted in favor of repeal were Dan Boren of Oklahoma, Mike McIntyre of North Carolina, and Mike Ross of Arkansas. Basically, the repeal vote was more bipartisan than the passage vote.
