Keith Olbermann Leaves MSNBC Tonight

by Stephan Tawney on January 21, 2011

Tonight is Keith Olbermann’s last show on MSNBC. The network has ended its contract with the left-wing commentator and Olbermann has confirmed his immediate departure. So long, bathtub boy.

Update: Howard Kurtz says Lawrence O’Donnell is moving to 8pm and the Ed Show will come on at 10pm.

There was really no inkling of this about to happen as far as I know. Kind of a surprise.

NBC Universal denies that Olbermann’s departure is related to the Comcast deal. But that hasn’t stopped progressives on Twitter from theorizing.

I especially like all of those who claim this firing/departure shows that MSNBC really isn’t that liberal because, hey, Pat Buchanan is still at the network. Meanwhile, admitted socialist Lawrence O’Donnell will fill Olby’s timespot.

Guess I’m not as in the know as I thought. Can’t believe this was Keith’s last show. How could this happen. One of the only on target, smart, always researched and right on, answer to the right wing and MSNBC does’t renew his contrat? Why???? What gives? His contribution to Dems? Isn’t this what your network is all about? My 8:00 pm will never be the same. Shame on you. Guess MSNBC isn’t my go to place. Too bad for me and many others. I’l like an answer but won’t expect one.
