MOSUL, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) -- A bomb blast on Wednesday killed one soldier and injured two more in Mosul city in northern Iraq, Aswat al-Iraq news agency reported.
An improvised explosive device (IED) exploded on Wednesday afternoon in the Sumer neighborhood in eastern Mosul. The bomb targeted an Iraqi army vehicle patrol.
The area was cordoned off and the injured were transported to a hospital, according to authorities. This was the second explosion in Mosul in the last couple of days.
On Tuesday, two Iraqi soldiers were killed after a bomb exploded in western Mosul. The explosive device was placed in a refrigerator in the al-Harmat region.
Also on Tuesday, civilians were injured after an explosive device exploded in a market. The blast occurred in the al-Muthanna neighborhood, in eastern Mosul but no fatal victims were registered.
Ten citizens were injured, including three women and three children, and were transported to a nearby hospital. Mosul is the capital of Ninewa governorate. The city is located approximately 405 kilometers north of Baghdad.
