UN May Consider Removing Libya from the Human Rights Council

by Stephan Tawney on February 24, 2011

Yes, Gaddafi’s Libya remains a member in good standing of the United Nations Human Rights Council. It’s there right alongside China, Cuba, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Russia. Yes, really. Aren’t you glad that we send billions of dollars per year to this organization? Good times.

So anyway, yes, Libya may finally be ejected from the UN Human Rights Council. And all it took was for the country’s government to bomb its own people and then shoot them when they’re brought to the hospital. Only now — only now — is the world’s deliberative body considering removing this country from its Human Rights Council. Pathetic.
