The United States Navy has launched more than 110 Tomahawk missiles in an effort to destroy Muammar Gaddafi’s air defense system. It’s being described by Pentagon officials as the “first phase in a multi-phase operation”. The true thrust of the international military operation has begun.
Update: It will take about six hours for the Navy to determine whether the initial strike was successful. Does this mean we now enter a pause? No. An admiral at the Pentagon just denied that we’re pausing operations. The operation moves forward.
Update X2: Here’s what few countries can do what we can: Those 110 missiles — just the first stage of our first day’s actions — cost about $110 million. Libya’s entire GDP is $62 billion.
