Some insight into the minds of Democratic pundits and strategists. They’ll blame “right-wing extremists” for any eventual government shut down, but in reality they’ve been rooting for one all along. Which is at least partially the reason why they have been opposing even minor budget cuts (a couple billion out of trillions of dollars).
“I think it would be the best thing in the world to have a shutdown,” Dean says.
They want the government to be shutdown because, perhaps accurately, they expect voters will blame Republicans for the shutdown. They’ll frame it as those evil Republicans disrupting everyone just because Democrats refuse to cut even a few billion from a multi-trillion budget.
Why, those right-wing extremists are so obsessed with fixing our $1.6 trillion deficit and $14 trillion+ debt that they’re demanding a few billion in cuts from extraconstitutional projects. Such draconian cuts? Not if Democrats can do anything about it.
