In fact, it’s rumored that such high costs are one of the reasons that the Obama family wasn’t invited to the wedding. Security costs to protect the leader of the free world would necessarily skyrocket — something neither the royal family nor British taxpayers can afford.

(I think there are other reasons behind the lack of invitation, too. Like maybe the fact that Barack Obama has, since his first day in office, snubbed British officials and done his best to destroy our special relationship. From giving the British Prime Minister 25 DVDs that don’t work to sending back a bust of Winston Churchill, Obama has made his contempt for the British clear.)
