Gas Prices Average $4 Per Gallon in Five States

by Stephan Tawney on April 28, 2011

How’s that hope and change working out for you?

In at least five states, regular unleaded gasoline costs on average upwards of $4 per gallon. And the Associated Press says New York state and the District of Columbia could be joining the club by this weekend.

The national average has increased for 24 straight days, hitting $3.82 per gallon on Friday. Motorists in Connecticut, Illinois, California, Hawaii and Alaska now pay more than $4 per gallon. A gallon of regular cost an average of $3.979 in New York and $3.999 in Washington.

And this in from President Obama, who’s traveling between taping an interview from Oprah and attending New York fundraisers:

Hope and Change.
