MOSUL, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) -- At least seven people were killed and 15 others were wounded on Saturday in a suicide bombing attack in Iraq's eastern city of Mosul, the Aswat al-Iraq news agency reported.
"A suicide bomber detonated an explosive belt strapped to his chest near an Iraqi army patrol in al-Nabi Younis (the Prophet Jonah) area, eastern Mosul, leaving seven, including four soldiers, dead and 15 others, including two soldiers, wounded," a security source said.
The blast occurred near a popular market and the Iraqi army cordoned off the area. The wounded were rushed to a nearby hospital, while the bodies were removed to a morgue in Mosul.
Mosul, which is the capital of the troubled multi-ethnic Ninawa Governorate, is located about 400 kilometers (250 miles) northwest of Baghdad.
