Good News: Obama Thinks It’s 2008

Hey, maybe this is why he’s traveling rather than addressing the domestic disasters created by his failed policies. He isn’t aware that his policies have been enacted, and instead thinks he’s still president-elect. Or maybe he’s just this big of an idiot, and we’ve just been told by his media apologists that he’s an ubergenius.

This is how President Obama signed the guestbook at Westminster Abbey earlier today, where he got a tour from the Very Reverend Dr. John Hall and laid a wreath on the Grave of the Unknown Warrior.

It is a great privilege to commemorate our common heritage, and common sacrifice.

Barack Obama

24 May 2008

I’d remind you that it’s 2011, just in case you’ve been living under a rock since 2008. But then I figured, hey even someone under a rock could keep track of time. Even someone living under a rock would realize that years have passed. So that old cliche doesn’t apply here.

The Telegraph reports that Obama didn’t even know what day it was, so he asked a bystander who obliged him. Maybe he should have asked for the year, too.

And notice that he formatted the date in a European standard, with the date first and then the month. That was very intentional. Obama aspires to make America more European on issues like health care and global warming, and he is himself a Europhile (though not a great admirer of Great Britain specifically).

So our Great Leader took the time to specifically format the date in a European format, but couldn’t take the time to get the year right. It’s a great metaphor for his administration. Heavy on image and trying to impress, light on actual substance and getting things right.
