ABBOTTABAD, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- A team of forensic experts with the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on Friday entered the Abbottabad compound, in which al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed earlier this month, Ary news television reported.

The CIA experts arrived to search for possible items and documents from al-Qaeda that might have been hidden inside the walls of the mansion. The United States previously received approval from Pakistan for the operation.

In addition, the Pakistani government increased the security at the Abbottabad residence during the time of the CIA forensic search. The compound was previously investigated by Pakistani experts.

The CIA said that the late al-Qaeda leader might have ordered the creation of hidden cavities on the building's walls to hide documents and other items containing high-level information of the terrorist organization.

The operation was launched as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived to Islamabad and met with Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari in order to ease tensions between the two countries after the U.S. did not alert Pakistan over the Abbottabad operation.

Clinton and Zardari vowed that the two countries will work together in any future action against terrorism-related targets in Pakistan. Zardari urged Clinton to respect the country's national sovereignty as "it is the will of the people".

Secretary Clinton remarked that a secure, stable, democratic and prosperous Pakistan was in the U.S. best interests and a critical factor in stability and peace of the region. She added that in the long U.S.-Pakistan relationship there is no room for misunderstanding and misperception.

On May 1, the U.S. conducted a secret mission to kill Osama bin Laden inside his compound. The successful operation was considered a major blow to the organization and was welcomed by leaders around the world.
