This is the same guy who still hasn’t reported the “hacking” of his social media accounts on Friday to law enforcement. He still hasn’t reported the felony hacking and impersonation events to any authority, instead retaining legal counsel and attacking media outlets who dare ask him questions.
The New York Daily News reported the Congressman’s statement thusly:
Whoa, there, Mr. President: Let’s be careful with giving the NSA more power, Rep. Anthony Weiner warned today.
That’s in response to President Obama’s move to appoint a cyber-security czar (the plan is after the jump) who Weiner doesn’t want to give up too much civilian control while protecting the country’s information grid.
“Cyber attacks — both foreign and domestic — are real and demand immediate action,” Weiner said. “But we need a balanced approach. It is important that we don’t give too much authority to a government agency that collects information and rarely shares it.”
Yes, cyber attacks demand immediate and real action.
Unless they involve someone “hacking” the accounts of an elected member of Congress, impersonating him, and attempting to destroy his reputation by sending lewd pictures to young woman. Apparently that requires a quick chuckle and nothing more.
By the way, a reporter for liberal Talking Points Memo asked Weiner if it was his weiner in the lewd photograph. His response was to dodge the question and accuse the media of treating him unfairly. He says no matter what he says the scandal won’t come to a close. Which is bull.
Call in the authorities and have them launch an investigation. If they conclude it was a hacking, they’ll also likely find the person responsible. Just like Obama releasing his birth certificate satisfied all but the most extreme believers, that should put to rest this scandal. It’s simple, Congressman. Real simple.
