Prominent House Democrat Jim McDermott (D-WA) writes for left-wing, phony-pro-Israel group J Street that the United States should protect the terror flotilla headed towards Gaza simply because there are Americans aboard.
A year after the Mavi Marmara “Gaza Flotilla” incident, we are no closer to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In the absence of progress, the possibility of dramatic symbolic actions such as another flotilla or United Nations consideration of Palestinian statehood in September is on the horizon.
According to news reports, Turkey’s Humanitarian Relief Foundation has canceled participation in a new aid flotilla to Gaza. Other boats with Americans on board are still bound to leave later this week. It is my sincere hope that any such endeavor will be peaceful and not lead to new violence. I urge the State Department to ensure protection to the participants.
The purpose of this terror-supporting flotilla, the successor to the one whose participants tried to kill Israeli Defense Forces when they peacefully boarded, is to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza. The blockade only exists because of the flow of arms to terrorists — terrorists who seek the destruction of Israel — in Gaza.
So basically, the purpose of the flotilla is to help restore the flow of weapons to antisemitic terrorists in Gaza. To help the terrorists seeking to destroy Israel and kill its citizens. And as of late, to help the Palestinian government, which involves a coalition with Hamas — a group designated as terrorist by the international community.
It’s a pro-terror flotilla. And here we have a House Democrat asking the United States to protect the flotilla as it attempts to accomplish its pro-terror goals.
The “Americans on board” is a bullcrap excuse. Americans willing to participate in a movement should not automatically receive the protection of the United States.
There are Americans in Al Qaeda. More than a few Americans went to Europe to fight for Germany during World War II. Should we have protected them? No. They decided to provide assistance to the enemy. They chose to participate, fully knowing the risks and alliances they were making.
