“Priorities USA Action” Ad Ignores Inconvenient Facts

by Scott Gibbons on June 29, 2011

A new ad from mega left-wing group Priorities USA Action — a group with strong ties to the White House — is quick to blame Republicans for allegedly trying to end Medicare. But the ad is also quick to ignore facts inconvenient to its narrative.

Really, we should have known from the beginning that Priorities USA Action would lie. It was intended as a counter-ad to the Crossroads GPS campaign. But unlike the Crossroads ad, Priorities USA Action’s version doesn’t rely on provable fact — it’s all sweeping generalities and makes unsourced claims.

Crossroads’ ad cites NBC News, data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and quotes from Barack Obama himself.

Priorities USA Action’s ad responds with a whole bunch of “shut up” and a bit of “Republicans want to kill grandma”.

They even claim Republicans want to end Medicare, when in fact actuaries for the federal program say a lack of change will end the program effectively in 2024.

The Republican plan reforms Medicare but saves it for future generations.

The Democratic plan is to let the program run out of money and let it expire in 2024.

Which plan, then, is really going to end Medicare? Hint: It’s not the Republican one.

Liberals have run out lies upon which to run. They can no longer make empty promises of “change”. They can no longer claim to have fixed the economy. They can no longer claim to be the party of fiscal responsibility. They can no longer claim to be the party for the middle class.

So they’ve resorted to distortions and lies. They insist Republicans are shameless for blaming Barack Obama’s policies for the continued recession but they don’t explain how Republicans are wrong. They insist Republicans are trying to kill grandma but can’t cite a provable fact to back that up.

A bunch of sad, desperate people the liberals are nowadays.
