Governor Scott Walker’s union reform bill in Wisconsin has saved Kaukauna School District from a $400,000 deficit. In fact, the district is now expected to run a $1.5 million surplus.
With its new surplus, the district says it intends to hire additional teachers and reduce class size — both benefits for students and teachers alike.
So that evil, fascist law the unions and their Democratic allies spent months demonizing? Yeah, it’s saving school districts money and allowing them to hire additional teachers. Plus, students will benefit from smaller classes.
The bill was never going to destroy the public school system. Unions and their Democratic allies only demonized the bill because it reduced the power of union bosses and their cronies.
Luckily for Wisconsin public school districts, Governor Walker and Republicans put the welfare of students first. The outcome? Better resources and smaller, more manageable class sizes.
