Polls indicate that Barack Obama is struggling in some crucial states. The latest is Florida, where just 38% of likely voters say they approve of the job he’s doing as president. A clear majority — 54% — say they disapprove.
Thanks in large part to the failure of Barack Obama’s costly economic policies, Florida is suffering from a 10.8% unemployment rate. That’s even higher than the already-high national rate of 9.2%.
The majority (56 percent) of Florida voters say the economy has worsened in the past year, and 58 percent of those voters disapprove of the job Obama is doing as president, while 35 percent approve.
The mood is bipartisan. Just 13% of Democrats in Florida say the economy has improved. In fact, a majority of all political affiliations say the economy has gotten worse — not better.
Only 64% of Democrats say they approve of the job Barack Obama is doing. A surprisingly-significant 29% of his own party membership in the state disapproves of his job performance.
Worse yet, the survey was taken before the Labor Department reported an increase in the unemployment rate and the creation of almost no private sector jobs last month.
In a head-to-head race with Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney, Obama would lose the state of Florida — a state he carried in 2008 — by four percentage points. A plurality of Independents would support Romney over Obama.
