As His Poll Numbers Fall, Obama Still Supported by Hollywood

by Scott Gibbons on July 17, 2011

Middle class America may be fleeing Barack Obama, but liberal Hollywood is sticking by its man. The president’s latest federal campaign filings reveal Hollywood A-listers pumping out money for their fellow left-winger.

Among the more than 550,000 donors to the president’s 2012 reelection bid were big-name movie stars including actors George Clooney, Michael Douglas, Sharon Stone, Michael Keaton, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson. Filmmaker Steven Spielberg and his wife, actress Kate Capshaw, also gave to the 2012 campaign, according to the latest Federal Election Commission report. Jennifer Garner and Gwyneth Paltrow both contributed under their married names —Affleck and Martin, respectively.

“30 Rock” actor Alec Baldwin, who has often toyed with a potential political run, also shelled out cash for Obama’s second-quarter fundraising haul. And several other TV actors — such as “Monk”’s Tony Shalhoub, “Glee”’s Jane Lynch, “24”’s president Dennis Haysbert and sci-fi stars Scott Bakula and Richard Dean Anderson — joined Baldwin in contributing to the president’s reelection bid.

Of course, few of these individuals actually suffer from Obama’s failed policies. High unemployment hardly affects them. Higher taxes? So what, they’ll always find another production from which to squeeze millions. Inflation? Another couple of bucks for milk or gas doesn’t bother them.

It’s middle class America that suffers the most from Obama’s failed policies — the same policies these liberal A-listers are trying to extend for another four years.

You really want to hamper Obama’s reelection chances? Stop supporting these leftist “artists”. Every time you pay to see a movie, every time you buy a DVD, every time you buy your kids merchandise from productions featuring these actors — each and every time you put more money into the Democratic Party. So let’s stop.

Not really surprised that Hollywood goes DEM. Never surprised about Alec Baldwin. Because of Personal TV favorites disappointed about Haysbert (24, The Unit), and Anderson (Stargate, MacGyver). Semi-Dissapointed about Alias’s Garner, though it is interesting that she chose to use her married name for the donation. Marrying Ben Affleck (almost wrote Aflac), contributing to Obama. Trying for an insanity excuse.
