Net Neutrality, or How to Intentionally Destroy the Private Sector

Phil Kerpen notes two disturbing sentiments.

First, President Barack Obama’s promise to place government regulation, under the Orwellian name “Net Neutrality”, on the internet:

“I will take a back seat to no one in my commitment to net neutrality.”

And then from Robert McChesney, founder of Free Press, a group with close ties to the Obama Administration, on the issue of Net Neutrality:

“At the moment, the battle over network neutrality is not to completely eliminate the telephone and cable companies. We are not at that point yet. But the ultimate goal is to get rid of the media capitalists in the phone and cable companies and to divest them from control.”

Remember this: When they say “Net Neutrality”, they mean “neutrality” from the private sector. They mean placing the internet under the control of the government. But why, one wonders, would the government seek to control a powerful outlet for dissent and free speech? Oh, right…

No wonder leftists love the idea. You’d kill two birds with one stone. You’d destroy both capitalism, which they hate, and another outlet for political dissent, which has kept them from destroying capitalism. It’s a dream come true for them.
