Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has a message for conservatives opposed to his weak bill, which reduces the deficit by just $1 billion while raising the debt ceiling $1 trillion: “Get your ass in line.”

The speaker is apparently sick and tired of conservatives demanding he live up to the promises he made voters. He’s tired of their bitching about how he’s giving Obama  another $1 trillion while cutting next-to-nothing.

“This is the bill,’ Boehner said in a closed-door meeting of House Republicans on Wedneday morning. “I can’t do this job unless you’re behind me.”

The “get your ass in line” is a direct quote, by the way. I didn’t make that up.

Boehner had to postpone a vote on his legislation yesterday, following a CBO report that demonstrated his cuts were far less than he claimed. Just a few hundred billion over ten years. He’d reduce the deficit by just $1 billion this year. In turn, he’d grant Obama an instant $1 trillion debt increase.
