A 22-year-old illegal immigrant from Uzbekistan has been arrested and charged with plotting to kill President Barack Obama. The suspect, Ulugbek Kodoriov, is known to have sympathies for Islamic terrorism.

Kodoriov was arrested on July 13th after purchasing an assault rifle, USA Today reports. An FBI informant had learned of his plans on July 9th.

When asked why he bought an assault rifle, Kodoriov said, “Well, my local ATF agent was busy that particular day, so I couldn’t get one for free.”

Okay, I may have made that quote up. But come on. How perfectly does this story fit into the ATF “Fast and Furious” story?

Seriously though, good thing they caught the guy. Sounds like he had every intention of following through on his plan. But also, why wasn’t the illegal immigrant with known sympathies for Islamic terrorism deported earlier?
