Congressman Joe Walsh (R-Ill) last night responded to Senator John McCain’s (R-AZ) attack on conservatives for daring to stand firm on fiscal conservatism.

Walsh called McCain’s attack — which involved calling conservatives “hobbits” — “bizarro” and “insulting”. Walsh also noted that McCain has been in Washington since 1983 and helped preside over the creation of the current debt crisis.

“It’s politicians like (McCain) who have gotten us to this point where we have a government we can’t afford,” Walsh said.

The Illinois Republican went on to say conservatives were elected just six months ago to change the way politicians like McCain were running things in Washington.
