Wu Exhibited Erratic Behavior Throughout Last Year

I wouldn’t be covering this except for the fact that Congressman David Wu (D-OR) hasn’t actually resigned as of yet and could still change his mind.

It turns out the Oregon Democrat exhibited erratic behavior beyond unwanted sexual advances and dressing like a tiger. Even his political allies were concerned.

A top donor who had dinner with Wu on October 26th noticed that a female staffer was trying to control him. Wu was experiencing pain and the donor offered ibuprofen. He described the staffer’s reaction as “weird”.

And then:

The next day, Wu attended a small luncheon at Davis Street Tavern hosted by the Democratic Party of Oregon. U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was the main guest.

Michele Stranger-Hunter, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon, attended the lunch with about two dozen people. When asked to describe Wu’s behavior at the lunch, Stranger-Hunter’s first words were “Oh, lord.”

“He had a lot of energy he brought to that election,” she recalls. “He was feeling very stressed.”

Wu was apparently boisterous during that luncheon. His objections to certain elements of the ObamaCare legislation (he opposed restrictions on abortion funding) drew the attention of onlookers who could apparently hear him well.

Then:

That night at Portland International Airport, according to a four-page incident report from the Port of Portland, Wu sought special access to get through the security checkpoint in order to greet his children at the gate. The report said he then began asking deplaning passengers for their votes. At one point, the report said Wu gave a “high-five” to a transportation security officer.

Emails reveal staffers had confronted Wu about his drinking habits. Staffers also accused Wu of harassment and said he refused to listen to their advice.

At one point Wu apparently sent a photo of himself in a tiger suit to staffers. Shortly after, another email went out from his official House email account — but this time the message was claiming to be from his kid. It turns out Wu was simply posing as one of his kids — which understandably disturbed his staffers.

But there’s more: Another email from his official House account reveals that Wu was “wasted” — as in drunk — on wine, which would contradict the claim by Wu that he wasn’t drinking at the time.

Finally, Wu told reporters that all of this pre-election erratic behavior was the result of emotional stress following the death of his father. Which is interesting, considering how his father didn’t pass away until three weeks after the election. Did Wu have a time machine? Maybe it came with the tiger suit.
