It’s official: The Republican leadership has blocked Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI) from serving on the Super Committee.
But forget just Paul Ryan. None of the prominent anti-spending, pro-entitlement reform folks were chosen.
Speaker John Boehner has announced his choices for the House Republican slots on the committee: David Camp of Michigan, Jeb Hensarling of Texas, and Fred Upton of Michigan.
All three voted for Boehner’s original debt ceiling plan. No one who opposed him was apparently allowed to serve on the committee.
Update: The Senate picks slightly better options: Rob Portman of Ohio, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, and Jon Kyl of Arizona. I don’t trust Kyl not to fold under Democratic pressure.
