Pew entitles this:
Democrats Not Eager for an Obama Challenger
But really? The headline here is that a majority of Democrats don’t want their own party’s chief embarrassingly primaried? It’s not that 32% of Democrats want to see another nominee in 2012? Or that 9% are open to the idea?
The big story here is that 59% of Democrats are happy with their leader? It’s not that 41% support a challenge or are open to the idea?
Pew seems to be missing the big story and focusing on the obvious detail.
Nearly a third of your party wanting to primary you as president is a problem. Another 9% thinking about it? An even bigger problem.
When you’re already vulnerable in an election against the other party, and then you find a significant percentage of your own side wants to see you gone, that’s a big ass problem.
