Boehner to Obama: How Does September 8th Sound?

by Stephan Tawney on August 31, 2011

Like Ace, I like how Boehner isn’t bending to Obama’s blatant political ploy. But he should offer Obama the ability to present his speech before the debate — not after.

Forcing him to put it off a day makes it seem like you think a debate is more important than a jobs bill.

Forcing him to give the speech earlier allows you to frame it as unemployed workers not having to wait more than a week to find out what their president plans to do about unemployment.

Why wait? Give it tomorrow. Or Friday. Let’s get to creating jobs!

Obama does have a plan already, right? This isn’t something he’s forced to cobble together by September 7th, right? Good then let’s hear it now.

It’s better imagery. The speaker should offer Obama a joint session for September 1st, 2nd, 5th, or 6th. If Obama wants to play games, let’s play games. But let’s play them intelligently.

Let’s get to creating jobs? Might want to tell that to the Republican led house, who has yet to introduce a single jobs bill, and have almost singlehandedly crashed the entire economic system of the United States twice in the last 4 years.
