In Speech Tonight, Obama to Blame Republicans and Push for Tax Hikes

by Stephan Tawney on September 8, 2011

The same tired crap we’ve heard a million times before. As expected. Now can we move on to football?

The White House’s pre-speech spin ramped up this morning when Carney appeared on morning TV shows to announce that the president’s package of proposals will be collectively titled “The Americans Jobs Act.”

The talking points begin with the claim that Obama’s proposals are “based on bi-partisan ideas” and “fully paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes and asking the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share.”

Hey, you know what should really get the economy moving again? Tax hikes on investors and small business.

Because you just know “wealthiest” doesn’t only mean billionaires. Obama has already defined the “rich” as those households making $250,000 per year — and that means small businesses that report income on the owner’s tax forms.

The speech also blames Congress in general for inaction, which means he’s trying to offload blame that should be assigned to him to not only Republicans but his fellow Democrats, too. He’ll throw anyone and everyone under the bus to deflect blame from himself.

So just to wrap this up, he’ll:

1) Blame Bush for all his ills.

2) Throw all of Congress — including fellow Democrats — under the bus.

3) Call for tax hikes on investors and small business.

4) Insist his extremely partisan and non-viable proposals are “bipartisan”.

5) Push for even more government spending.

All the same crap we’ve heard  time and time again. Nothing new, just the same old and failed policies he’s tried for years. We can expect high unemployment for quite some time, folks.
