Two U-Haul vans were stolen in Prince George’s County, Maryland, today, sparking a bulletin to law enforcement agencies warning that the theft may be connected to terrorism.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier has confirmed to ABC7′s Kris Van Cleave that two U-Haul vans have been stolen in Prince George’s County today.

A bulletin has been issued to law enforcement agencies noting that the theft might fit as a terror warning.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier has confirmed the theft to ABC7′s Kris Van Cleave.

“Yes, there is a lookout for two stolen vans in PG,” Lanier said. “Yes we are actively looking for them.”

Both are Ford Econoline vans and both carry Arizona tags.

One was stolen from St. Barnabas Road, possibly at 3710 St. Barnabas in Temple Hills, and one on Allentown Road, possibly at 4599 Allentown Road, in Suitland.

The concern is obviously who may have stolen the vans.

Intelligence officials warn Al Qaeda or its allies may be determined to strike on or about the anniversary of the September 11th attacks. The attacks may involve packing vans with explosives (possibly dirty explosives) and blowing them up in tunnels, on bridges, or in crowded areas.

If you have information pertaining to the thefts, please contact law enforcement. And remember this anniversary: If you see something, say something. It’s better to report something fishy and have it turn out to be false alarm than not report something and have it turn out to be the real deal.
