Republican Victorious in New York’s Ninth District

The people of Queens and Brooklyn will now be represented in the House of Representatives by a Republican.

Republican candidate Bob Turner, who won the backing of Jewish voters and other Democrats sick of Barack Obama’s economic and foreign policies, has been declared the winner by the Associated Press.

New York’s 9th district, previously represented by the now-disgraced Anthony Weiner (D), has a 5% voter registration advantage for Democrats. Yet Turner is winning by more than 6% at the last update.
