Sounds like attention-seeking bluster to me.
It’s very, very difficult to meet the threshold necessary to win a defamation lawsuit involving a high-profile public figure (one who is a political nonetheless). Otherwise we’d have Team Obama suing every conservative blogger and talk radio host into oblivion and shutting down dissent through litigation.
Team Palin cites an email purportedly demonstrating that author Joe McGinniss knew his claims were, “false, intended to be false, and were intended to harm”.
But who knows. Again, winning a defamation lawsuit involving a high-profile public figure is very (and necessarily) difficult. Odds are a lawsuit never gets filed, or if one does it’s soon dropped when the attention dies down. Team Palin is big on the attention-getting, small on the follow-through. Take her partially-completed term, for example. I went there.
