National Park Service Grants Anti-Capitalist Protesters Unexpected Four MONTH Extension

by Scott Gibbons on October 10, 2011

Not even the protesters thought the National Park Service would allow them to continue occupying Freedom Plaza near the White House for another four months.

After all, there are no facilities to provide food or basic hygiene, so it’s not clear the protest can remain safe. But I mean, who cares. Just so long as you’re pushing the right message — one with which the current administration agrees.

The Washington Post calls it an anti-war group, but it’s so much more than that.

She called the offer a “transformative moment,” saying she had expected officials to tell the group they would have to disperse and take down their tents and signs ranging from “tax the rich” and “compassion not capitalism” to “peace is patriotic” and “time 4 change.” She and others believed they would be arrested Monday night if they stayed.

It’s anti-capitalist and pro-left wing. Which I’m assuming is how they managed to get a four-month extension against all odds and common sense.

They’re pushing the same message as the Obama campaign, so they get to stay. Do you think an extreme right-wing group would be allowed to occupy a major plaza in Washington for four months? I thoroughly doubt it. Especially if they were espousing rhetoric such as this:

Ann Wright, 65, a resident of Honolulu, agreed, saying the permit extension now means there is a base for protesters to come to in Washington.

Come raise hell in the nation’s capital because we have a foundation to raise hell from,” she said.

Come occupy and raise hell in the nation’s capital — now with the approval of the Obama Administration! Four months. Because they’re pushing a message the White House likes. Welcome to Obama’s America.
