Florida Governor: Maybe Eric “Fast and Furious” Holder Shouldn’t Be Approving State Election Law Changes

by Stephan Tawney on October 11, 2011

Our second Florida-related post of the day, but this one could have national implications.

The lefties are outraged, of course, but that’s their natural state. The Miami Herald reveals its bias in the first paragraph, suggesting the lawsuit challenging the outdated Voting Rights Act provision will somehow place at risk the voting rights of minorities. Bullhockey.

If you’re unfamiliar, the law requires all voting and election law changes in certain areas of the country to get the approval of the Justice Department. No approval, no law change.

An agency of the executive branch basically has the ability to unilaterally override state-level election law changes.

How is that constitutional? It’s not, which is why Florida Governor Rick Scott (R) is challenging the provision in federal court.

That and the fact Eric “Fast and Furious” Holder’s agency is slower than crap in approving legal changes in five Florida counties. It’s that famous government efficiency we’ve heard so much about.
