Unemployment Rate Rises Days After Obama’s Trip to North Carolina

by Stephan Tawney on October 22, 2011

Let’s face it: The man is just bad luck.

The Chicago Olympics. Countless sports predictions. Campaign events for failed office-seekers like Martha Coakley. The national credit rating. Whatever he touches turns to fail.

His most recent victim? North Carolina’s unemployment rate. Days after Barack Obama visited the state to play up his jobs record their unemployment rate ticked up to 10.5 percent. It’s the highest in more than 18 months.

North Carolina has lost more than 289,300 jobs since the recession began, and there’s no sign of relief on the horizon.

Obama actually carried the state during his 2008 election, but his prospects for 2012 are daunting.

Voters are unlikely to look at his record, see how we wants to continue the same policies moving forward, and then vote to give him another term. They’re sick and tired of Obamanomics and are looking for a change.
