Your semi-annual reminder that, for all his rantings against capitalism and apologia for socialism, Michael Moore is a millionaire who gladly sells tickets to see his left-wing drivel. The fact he’s actually in the 1% while railing against the 1%…it’s just so much more delicious than usual.
Before a studio audience in a special edition of Piers Morgan Tonight, the host pressed Moore to explain just how he wasn’t a part of the nation’s economic elite, and got little clarification other than Moore’s desire the corporation that pays him “rue the day” they ever gave him money.
Hey, studio that pays him? Stop paying him. Oh, right, you wouldn’t shut him down because capitalism allows all views to be heard so long as there’s an audience interested in hearing them. And since Moore is actually a capitalist who only dreams of Boutique Socialism, he’d take his drivel elsewhere if you stopped sending checks.
Actually, Moore’s response gets more oblivious:
“I’m here talking against my own interests– what’s wrong with me?” he joked, but didn’t really answer the question, other than to claim that “for a documentary filmmaker, I do very well.” When Morgan pushed him to explain how “very well” did not translate to elite levels of wealth, he merely said he felt “blessed,” given his high school education level, and claimed that “they made a huge mistake, putting me on TV.”
Hey, dumbass? You know why you manage to do “very well” — which you evidently define as making piles of money — despite lacking official credentials? Because you live in a capitalist society. And again, so long as you have a product people are willing to buy, and you’re willing to work for it, you can make it. That’s capitalism. You know, the same system you gladly get paid to rant against.
