Men’s Wearhouse Confirms: We Stand with the Violent Marxists at Occupy Oakland

by Stephan Tawney on November 2, 2011

They’ve confirmed their stance on their Facebook page:

We closed our store near Oakland City Hall today, for one day, to express the company’s concern for the issue of wealth disparity in our country. The issue affects our employees and customers across the political spectrum.

Really?

The founder and CEO of their company, George Zimmer, is wealthy enough to have donated more than $300,000 — none of which went to Republicans, all of which went to Democrats or left-wing causes.

Perhaps he could start fixing the nation’s purported wealth disparity problem by giving that money to poor people instead. But no, he donates to the political campaigns of millionaire politicians.

The company, which is publicly traded, has decided to stand with a group of people that believes in beheading bankers, crushing capitalism, and covering up sexual assaults just to avoid getting the police involved.

When Clinton pollster Doug Schoen started polling the movement, he found 31% would support terrorism to achieve their goals and most were employed leftists who would show up for just about any left-wing cause.

Schoen’s conclusion was that Democrats should stay away from the protesters, who he declared to be fringe leftists out-of-touch with most Americans.

These are the people with which Men’s Wearhouse are standing. People who hate investors — like the investors who keep the publicly-traded company in business.

I hope the 1% who own shares of Men’s Wearhouse stock are happy with the decision of the company’s leadership to stand with violent Marxists who hate rich people.

Giving away his money would do absolutely nothing to address the “purported wealth disparity problem.” Charity is a pathetic substitute for responsible economic and social policies. Thanks for playing.

  2. Stephan Tawney Says:

Who decides what “responsible economic and social policies” are? Who decides who gets to keep his or her money and who doesn’t? And from whose perspective should the policies be “responsible”?

And if the answer is the majority, then what you’re advocating is a dictatorship by the majority over the minority. Avoiding that scenario is why our Founding Fathers established a republic with individual rights rather than a democracy pushing for the collective good.

Basically, you’re not as successful as other people so you want policies that take wealth away from other people to give to you. You’re the child at the birthday party yelling “That’s not fair!” because other kids ran for the pinata candy while you took your sweet time.

Reality check: It’s not the people who want to keep the money they’ve made who are selfish. It’s the people who see others have made money and demand it be redistributed.

And Occupy Wall Street is only happening now because you morons realize you’re losing the public debate. People are voting against new taxes and spending. People are moving away from big government. People are looking for private sector solutions rather than more government programs.

Where were these protests when Goldman Sachs was helping elect Obama? Where were these protests when the banks were getting bailouts? Where were these protests when unemployment was 10.2% and Washington was still doing nothing to establish “responsible economic and social policies”?

They weren’t there. Now they are. Because you’re panicking. The biggest attempt towards “responsible” policies you’ve had in decades is ObamaCare, and it’s incredibly unpopular. What you saw as just the launching point for government redistribution most Americans see as too much government with too much power. And you morons have started to realize as much.

It’s not government’s role to redistribute money. Money belongs to individuals who provided services and/or products that other individuals believed to be worth more than the dollar figures in a checking account. It doesn’t belong to the federal government to do as it chooses.

You guys are losing and will inevitably lose the debate. Why? Because you advocate government power on a scale that most Americans find incomprehensible and in direct contradiction with the values set forth by our Founding Fathers.

It’s time you came to grips with that.
