In a bipartisan vote that saw Senators Ben Nelson (D-NE) and Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) cross the aisle to vote with Republicans, the U.S. Senate today rejected Barack Obama’s latest destined-to-fail stimulus bill.
The final vote was 51-49. Sixty votes are needed to move on to debate and final passage.
The legislation sought to borrow $60 billion for “infrastructure” spending — you know, the stuff that was supposed to be covered by the first, $820 billion stimulus package. Apparently that original money went, er, elsewhere.
