It’s Robert Reich, who served as Clinton’s Secretary of Labor from 1993 to 1997. He’s a certified liberal who would be more than happy to hand Barack Obama credit for saving all of our asses. So we’re not talking a Democrat with a vendetta against the current administration.
See, here’s the problem: We’re actually not even creating enough jobs per month to match population growth. We’re tens of thousands of jobs per month short of the threshold required to stay even with the growth of the jobs market. The drop in unemployment? That’s thanks to some workers getting discouraged and stopping their search for work.
Plus, even pessimistic analysts had expected job numbers in the 95,000 range. The actual number was 80,000.
Reich concludes you’d have to really contort yourself to see this as good news. The economic crisis drags on, Obamanomics are weighing down the jobs market, and the guy who operates the light at the end of the tunnel is tired of waiting and is preparing to hit the switch.
