Cain Offered Kissinger Secretary of State Job

Oy vey.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has posted a new set of Herman Cain videos online, including one in which the Republican presidential candidate says he offered Henry Kissinger a place in his administration, but was politely rebuffed by the former secretary of state.

“Dr. Kissinger turned my offer down to be secretary of state. He said he’s perfectly happy doing what he’s doing,” Cain said, when asked what kind of people he’d like to have in his administration.

To think an 88-year-old might not be up to traveling the world and hosting long meetings for four years.

Cain said he’d appoint a “majority of business people as well as some seasoned officeholders,” specifically naming Paul Ryan, Jim DeMint, John Bolton, KT McFarland and John Chain, the former head of Strategic Air Command, as people he admires.

Is there any reason to believe Paul Ryan, who holds a powerful position in the House, or Jim DeMint, a powerful member of the Senate, would leave their positions of prominence and power to write memos for President Cain? Or are we now just throwing names out there because they’re the most prominent ones we could think of? That would certainly explain Kissinger.
