Totally a grassroots movement, y’all. It’s just pure coincidence that so many left-wing establishment figures happen to be involved, I’m sure.
Nothing says grassroots like a union boss from one of the world’s largest unions. Oh, and she happens to have a long history of organizing union establishment-backed protests.
(Statesman Journal) — Portland police have arrested the executive director of Service Employees International Union Local 503 this morning, as she participated in the Occupy Portland march on the Steel Bridge.
Heather Conroy was one of a number of protesters who sat down on the bridge when police blocked their march across the structure, SEIU spokesman Ed Hershey said.
Police proceeded to arrest a number of the protesters.
“I can’t call her because her arms are tied behind her back,” said Hershey, who watched the arrest on television.
Conroy has a long history in civil protest. Before succeeding former SEIU Executive Director Leslie Frane, she served as Frane’s field operations supervisor, in charge of organizing state worker rallies and protests.
By the way, Occupy’s newest adviser? Domestic terrorist and Obama friend Bill Ayers. Another convenient involvement.
