Sign of the Times: Obama’s Thanksgiving Address Omits God, Mentions Soup Kitchens

In which we move from faith in God to faith in The State. A sign of the times in Obama’s America.

Leftists will tell you this is no big deal. They’re wrong. To whom are we giving thanks on Thanksgiving? To whom do we owe our natural rights? On whom did our Founding Fathers rely for protection in their righteous crusade for freedom? God, not government. And the modern left despises that. They want a move from reliance on faith to reliance on the state.

The omission of the Almighty from the address was not accidental. You don’t accidentally forget to mention God in a Thanksgiving address. Bill Clinton mentioned Him. Jimmy Carter mentioned Him. John Kennedy. Harry Truman. Lyndon Johnson. Democratic presidents prior to the incumbent had no problem remembering to whom we owe our gratitude.

No, this omission was quite intentional. For the same reason the incumbent has punished charities while expanding state spending. For the same reason the incumbent is now demanding in federal court the power to choose pastors for churches. For the same reason candidate Obama slammed those who “cling” to religion.

As long as the people maintain their belief in God, and continue to believe that government can not take away from the people rights granted to them by the Almighty, government is naturally restrained in its powers. That’s not helpful for far-left ideology. The far-left needs to move people away from faith in God and towards faith in government. Only then can they fully achieve their objectives.
