So not only is the Government Motors Volt unpopular but it’s dangerous, too. Good thing we only lost…billions of dollars bailing out the company and its union overlords, huh? Money well spent.
WASHINGTON — Federal officials say they are investigating the safety of lithium-ion battery in General Motors Co.’s Chevrolet Volt after a second battery fire following crash-testing of the electric car.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday that three Volt battery packs were crash-tested last week. In one instance, the battery caught fire afterward, and in another the battery emitted smoke and sparks.
The worst part? These tests were attempts to replicate a fire from back in May, you know, to see if the problem still remained or if the last test was a fluke. It was no fluke. This appears to be a serial problem with the car’s engineering.
Remarkably, Government Motors is blaming the federal investigators for the issue, saying they’re not storing the post-crash batteries properly. Really? Does that explain the house fires also reportedly suspected as having been initiated by the Volt and/or its charging station?
Blaming the investigators for uncovering a problem is no way to conduct business, Government Motors. No way to conduct business. But then you’re owned and operated by union bosses and federal bureaucrats, so you wouldn’t know about successful business strategies, would you?
