Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), who framed himself as a pro-gun moderate in the 2010 campaign, voted today in favor of confirming Barack Obama’s radical, anti-gun nominee to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
Caitlin Halligan, Obama’s nominee, has an anti-gun record. She has been most vocally been criticized by groups including the National Rifle Association and Gun Owners of America for representing New York in its persecution of gun manufacturers.
How interesting that Manchin, who is supposedly pro-gun, would want her in such a powerful position. It’s almost like he’s a faux moderate who quickly joined the far-left line in Washington.
Update: Luckily, others held the line. Her nomination was just defeated by a vote of 55-45. She needed 60 votes.
