Obama Disapproval Back Above 50%

by Stephan Tawney on December 7, 2011

Just 41% of Americans now approve of the job Barack Obama is doing, with 51% disapproving. The results come from Gallup’s latest three-day tracking poll. It’s the president’s worst performance in weeks.

Despite all of his class warfare rhetoric and Medicare tactics, Obama’s approval is again close to record lows for his presidency. American are getting tired of his excuses — tired of him blaming everything under the sun for consequences of his failed policies.

But…but…the unemployment rate fell by fourth-tenths of a point!

Americans aren’t impressed. First of all, he borrowed $820 billion for a stimulus package that was supposed to keep unemployment below 8%, and nearly three years later it’s still much higher than that ceiling.

Second, even the Obama-supporting media were forced to acknowledge that discouraged workers were almost entirely responsible for the drop. The fact of the matter is, people are giving up looking for work. That makes the unemployment rate drop but the longterm fall in household spending power has an adverse impact on the economy.

Less than a year from the general election, just four in ten Americans approve of the president. A majority of Americans disapprove. The White House should be very worried. As of now, they would lose. It’s time for them to come to grip with reality.
