Breaking: Democrats Drop Tax Hike Demand

by Stephan Tawney on December 14, 2011

CNN, citing Democratic sources, is reporting that the White House and Democratic members of Congress have dropped their demand for tax hikes on investors and businesses.

It was one of their key demands in the negotiations to extend payroll tax cuts, which expire at the end of the year.

Republicans have noted that raising taxes on businesses and investors while the economy is suffering is a bad idea. Democrats have been struggling to keep even their own caucus together on the issue.
