“Know someone on Facebook or Twitter who, day after day, populates your feed with the latest right-wing talk-radio chatter?” Smoot wrote in the email. “Today, we’re offering you the opportunity to make a donation to the Obama campaign inspired by your favorite conservative friend or relative.”
Obama’s campaign website now offers donors a chance to enter the name and email of “a Republican in your life” that will be used to “send them a message letting them know they inspired you to donate.”
So they want Obama supporters to give them the email addresses of Republicans without the permission of said Republicans. And what will they do with the email addresses? Send them fundraising requests for money. So basically spam.
An Obama hack says everyone is upset over nothing because the email addresses aren’t stored. Bullcrap. Even free email accounts store the addresses of people to whom you’ve dispatched emails.
And you’re telling me the campaign is just using time and resources for laughs? Again, bullcrap. They want to force their narrative into the inboxes of Republicans without permission. They can’t get non-supporters to listen to them voluntarily, so Team Obama’s going to start spamming them.
