"He couldn’t possibly screw up as much as Bush has."

Really? You don't happen to remember the Carter years, do you, Don? Carter talked about change and yet was an empty suit, too.

The Misery Index was in the area of 28, we were being taxed up our ass, you could only buy gas on certain days, and the country was overall miserable. If you don't think it can get worse than Bush, just wait. It has been before, it can be again.

What surprises me is that anybody pays the slightest attention to Polls. Or that the Left continues to pretend that they matter.

A phony Poll? Heavens!

*meh!*

If polling mattered Carter would have served two dismal terms, Mondale would have succeeded him, and maybe Edward "I think I'll have another, just for the road" Kennedy might even have been the President.

Maybe all those whites that vote for Obama can help Michelle paint the whitehouse black.

Now the scene in Washington will be nothing but blacks and their white lackeys kissing A** and begging to whipped like dogs. Rail on until this once great nation is destroyed but the retribution payments made for the civil war and cleans out the treasury. No nation ruled in any manner by a black has made it into prosperity. Go to Africa and see the great states that were there when the whites operated the governments and see them now! Not one is a real country but filled with garbage and trash. Africa is what America will look like after the great OBAMA become president. He us a joke and a know nothing con man with a bunch of idiots hailing him as a hero who has yet to even have a bill passed in congress. Seems the Rev Wright is getting close to his curse on America becoming a reality.

Just maybe the thinking people will wake up!

McCain, with Alaska Gov Sarah Palin as his Veep, gain tremendously in this energy dabate. A commenter on another post says it much better than I can, in touting Palin:

"They say McCain reads the blogs, so here goes --

Senator McCain- Don't let the campaign kibbitzers muddle things up.

First and foremost, Sarah Palin shares your values. She killed the bridge to nowhere. Need we say more?

As for the politics, Sarah Palin transcends geography. Her constituency, like yours, goes beyond state lines.

She will get your ticket access to voters all over the country based on who she is and what she stands for. Because she's young, a woman, a mother with young kids, she will grab media attention more than any other potential candidate.

Gov. Palin also has a son in the active duty military. You have very wisely taken your son's service in Iraq off the table as a campaign talking point. That is and should be respected. But others can talk about it and reflect on what it means.

A McCain-Palin administration would be the first in memory which has family members in uniform during wartime from both the President and Vice President. That would be a powerful statement as to the importance of national service, especially in uniform.

Most importantly, any Vice President should be ready to step up and serve in the event she is needed. Frankly, who is really ever ready? Gov. Palin is as ready as anybody, she is a quick learner, and in her public career has exhibited the courage and decisiveness needed for a great leader.

Godspeed to you in your campaign and in making this important decision."

"Sure, he is positioning so there is less of a hit to him if he opts out, but that is because the media and McCain are portraying him as already having pledged."

Uh, his website states: "Barack Obama just announced a major strategic decision -- this campaign will not participate in the broken public financing system for the general election."

He's already opted out, without "aggressively pursue an agreement" with the Republican nominee. Even the NYT, not exactly a conservative paper, recognized that he broke his pledge.

Uh, his website states: “Barack Obama just announced a major strategic decision — this campaign will not participate in the broken public financing system for the general election.”

He’s already opted out, without “aggressively pursue an agreement” with the Republican nominee. Even the NYT, not exactly a conservative paper, recognized that he broke his pledge.

This is really being mischaracterized.

Obama statement said "If I am the Democratic nominee, I will aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election."

1) He must become the nominee
2) He must then come up with an agreement

This is being presented as him saying "Yeah, of course, no matter what." Problem is, he never said that.

Sure, he is positioning so there is less of a hit to him if he opts out, but that is because the media and McCain are portraying him as already having pledged.

JR,

I've heard of the MBA elsewhere (I believe Glenn Reynolds is a member), but they certainly don't speak on behalf of the vast majority of blogs. I've certainly never given them authorization to speak on my behalf, and neither have millions of other blog owners.

I read the other day that "Robert Cox" of the "Media Bloggers Association" would be meeting with the Associated Press to discuss a possible agreement between the two parties for using AP content.

I guess I wonder who the hell that guy (Cox) thinks he is to have the arrogance to believe that he has any standing in determining what position any or all other blogs would deem acceptable. More importantly, why would anyone give the AP the benefit of discourse when they threw down the gauntlet quite unexpectedly and contretely on what is already defined in law/statute under Transformative Fair Use.

Is this just a bumpus organization trying to establish legitimacy in a self-proclaimed representation?
